An excerpt from Goldman Sach’s widely referenced infographic on the drone industry. I send this out at least once a week at work to give a quick representation of the industry from a trusted source to interested parties.

Data presentation matters. I’ve found this to be especially true in the drone space, where companies throw around the word “platform” like surfers say “dude”, and where the actual application of the word “software” often has infinite variants. At Hangar, our communications are especially complicated, as we walk the fine line between not trying to say too much about our technology stack, and not having current viewers to pigeonhole our company into any one vertical or application. We’re building something complicated and breaking new ground, which brings emphasis on great design (and information design in particular) to the forefront of our brand experience.

We depend on lots of graphics and they work. In the constant quest to improve our information design, I’ve picked up a healthy list of fantastic examples from across the industry of different applications and illustrations. I keep this list mainly for stylistic inspiration and how can you show a compelling informational story while moving away from simple design elements. In many cases, simple is better, but I’ve been blown away by stylized applications. For example, many of those below to take statistical or model presentations and bring them into a new context. I’ve provided a sample of infographics and brand identity elements that I’ve bookmarked over time. Our design team constantly reflects on the best style for our brand, or for a certain vertical or presentation. They want lots of inspiration for all projects and lists like this are always a great start.

Hopefully my list of resource references will help if you are looking for similar visual guidance, trying to employ a graphics team to create your information design style, or even if you just enjoy the inspiration. All images are linked to the full project in the caption. Have at it ;)
