Nøkken is a collection of aerial photographs and video showcasing landscapes thoughout Norway, including areas around Oslo, Loften & Årdal. The images were inspired by the myths and folklore of the region, many legends focus around creatures and spirits that inhabit the water. The diverse, extremely clear and colorful fjords, lakes and oceans were an incredible canvas for experimentation with the perspective offered by camera drone technology. All shots were taken by drone, and seek to offer perspectives of locations that can’t be found from any standing vantage-point.

A big thank you to Fodors Travel for debuting the photographs from this project.

There’s something particularly foreign about a reflective modern art installation off the side of the road 20km from anything but fish farms. It wasn’t on any of our location lists, and as soon as we were out of the sprinter I felt magnetism, it was hard to leave it, I wanted it to exist in my world so I could visit regularly.

The hues remind me of when we used to paint the walls of every place we lived. We always said we’d paint over it before the lease was done, but never did. A moment in time, living submersed inside of a color.

I always wonder the impression we leave on those we make new friends on international trips, I hope that they assume all young americans are extremely enthusiastic and constantly excited, listen exclusively to hip hop, drive like maniacs, dress like a hypebeast lookbook and can (and do) actively argue about Kimoji or Kierkegaard and everything in between.

Thanks for checking it out! You can view every photo from the project over on my website.
